Thirty-year-old Rachel arrives at the home of her ailing father and his girlfriend for Shabbat dinner where her father makes a life-changing announcement. After years of suffering from extraordinary pain, Sam Adleman has decided to end his own life through physician-assisted suicide. And he's going to do it in seven days. Rachel, who's always been close to her father, is devastated and stays the week to try and convince him not to do it. And when Rachel asks their Rabbi to get involved, Sam's decision and the impact it has on the family only gets more complicated. A wedding, a funeral, tears, and laughter, In Seven Days explores what it means to live with grace and grapples with how we say goodbye to the people we love most.
“Jordi Mand has written a play about living, grabbing life, showing up when a friend or loved one needs you there, no matter how dire the circumstances. It’s about changing your mind, but not in the way expected and changing your perspective but not in an easy way. It’s about doing what’s right for our loved ones. Terrific play. Cause for celebration.”

“In Seven Days is effective in moving an audience, judging by the tears on opening night”.
– Globe and Mail
“...amid the unforeseen chaos, there exists a balance of humour and strife. A tone carefully crafted and beautifully penned by Mand.”
– NOW Magazine
“To push the show’s bagel motif a pinch past its limit, In Seven Days is a good schmear: crusty on the outside, tender and warm within, topped with unrelenting honesty.”
– Artsbeat
“Now that I’ve seen the play… I believe it could become a Canadian classic. I love theatre in which the characters’ lives seem to go on after the play is over, and their actions make you wonder how you’d act yourself. Mand’s beautiful, touching play does that – and more ”
